Candidate Statement
As a lifelong resident of Council District 4, I am proud to have served as your representative since 2015. I am now running for re-election to a final 4-year term. Our council office is managed with a skill and efficiency level that enables us to provide outstanding customer service while saving 46% of our office operating budget. That is a total of $1.5 million saved over seven years that has been used for sidewalk, curb and street repair along with community events. My strong Public Safety record includes the restoration of Fire Engine 17 and the passage of my city ordinance to help police curtail street racing takeovers. My record has been recognized with endorsements from both the Long Beach Firefighters' and Police Officers' Associations. My support of the business community has included a “retail renaissance” near the Traffic Circle and the pending reopening of the Los Altos Sears site with a major new retailer. My initiatives to address homelessness have included early support of the Care Court system and securing rent funding for a 76-unit homeless housing project. And finally, we provide timely communications through our weekly e-newsletter and promote pride in our district through our motto, Go Fourth!
